Good Bye Mike
Good bye MJ, we will miss your music.
A blog by us for our family and friends
Here’s the latest round of ultrasound pictures from our visit on 6/10.
It’s been a while since we updated this, but life has been very hectic. We’ve installed hardwood on our second floor and started preparing a room for the new baby.
Speaking of the baby, we can now start thinking about names in earnest. Why? Because at 9:30 this morning we found out that it should now be he. That’s right, were going to be having a BOY! How exciting. I’m glad that our first will be a boy, I’m not sure I’d be prepared for a daughter right off the bat.
So at six weeks I read that the baby is the size of a Lima bean. This is the week that the nose, mouth and ears are being formed. It is so exciting!
Ok so first let me admit that I’m cross-posting this with my commercial site and this site because I want everyone to get a chance to use this discount code if they are interested (and hey, everytime someone uses this code, I get a little bit back too!). This was originally posted at http://www.studio602photography.com/blog/2009/02/hello-future-smuggers/.
I have been a member of the smugmug community for quite some time now. First, I used smugmug as a place to store my personal images and then upgraded to their ‘Pro’ version when I got serious with photography and started picking up clients. If you are tired of Flickr and really want some place where you can store an unlimited amount of your own photos for a very low price, don’t have to deal with ads for services you don’t want, and don’t want to manage your own web space then take a look at smugmug. www.smugmug.com.
If you are interested, I even have a discount code for you! When setting up your account, just enter this code: 5ZrdPCjacjan2 and receive $5 off of your new account. I know in today’s economy every little bit helps! This code does not expire.
Over the past several years, the guys over at SmugMug have made several changes. If you are a pro member (not sure if this is true for non-pro accounts), you can opt to have your images printed by Bay Photo. So not only does smugmug eliminate the need for you to run the credit card and collect sales tax (they do that all for you), but they can do direct fulfillment through a very well respected pro lab. Neat!
One more thing I recently discovered was that there is now a plug-in for Adobe Lightroom 2.0 which can export your finished photos directly to Smugmug. I find this really helpful, as I now run two export plug-ins: one for Smug and another for Facebook. I have also recently just started using the iPhone smugmug application, which lets me upload photos directly from my iPhone to my smugmug account. Like all iPhone apps, it’s a big clunky but it gets the job done.
Ok, enough sales pitching for one day ![]()

Ok so supposedly you’re supposed to wait for like three months to inform the world that you are expecting, but you know what? That’s just far too long to wait. So three pregnancy tests later we’re pretty sure :) By our caculations we’re thinking end of October will be the due date!
Guess it’s time to figure out how to afford a kid now!
So i arrived at the phoenix-skyharbor airport this afternoon around 1:30 for my 3:55 flight. I check in, get my bag checked, pick up a burger from Burger King and then proceed to secueity whixh had an obnoxiously long (35 minutes) line and eventually find my gate.
Cindie calls and informa me that a USAir plane had just gone down in the Hudson river. Just what i wanted to hear!
I’m not normally skittish at all about flying, but today its just a smidge unnerving. Not that I expect any prpblems, but its always in the back of your mind when something like that happens!
Practically anyone who knows me knows my passion for photography, and my love of photographing people and weddigs in particular.
As I am starting my own business, I decided to go to the Digital Wedding Forum convention 2009. I made my reservations back in April or may and have been active on the forums for a while but still I was a bit nervous. The boards aren’t always kind to either part timers or newbies to the business.
This trip was so totally worth it, I got to meet a lot of new and great people from all over the world - the us, Canada, England, Germany and a bunch more places. The seminars were great, focusing on both the shooting an business aspects. Hearing how very successful photogs carry out their business is invaluable.
The amazing thing is that you can put two extremely successful photogs next to each other and they will completely disagree with each other on half of everything, but just knowing that is worth it’s weight in gold.
Anyways I look forward to a busy and hopefully profitable 2009.
So it’s been a while and oh boy there is just so much to talk about. Now that all of the excitement of the election is over, the excitement has been revolving around all of the layoffs at work (which luckily I’m not a part of either as a casualty or the bearer of bad news) and our upcoming trip to Disney.
Last weekend we took a trip up to Stamford, connecticut and visited some of my old college friends - Meg Beeney and a few others. It’s interesting to see how people change over time when you only see them a few times a year or less.
In some ways people stay the same but in other ways not so much. Though maybe I’m just seeing the world through different eyes?
